Aurora R8, what RAM comes with it?

Hello,

I recently purchased the Alienware Aurora R8 an opted for a single DIMM of this option "16GB HyperX DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz; up to 64GB (additional memory sold separately)".

I figured I could probably buy three more DIMMs before my computer arrived for much cheaper than to upgrade via dell, but I would like to get 3 of the same that is currently in the system.  However, there seems to be multiple HyperX options.  I seem to be having trouble getting a hold of someone in sales or support that can tell me what exactly is in my system.

Could anyone tell me what the manufacture and the model/part# of what exactly is comes with these systems when this option is selected?

Thanks,
Jose

Shot yourself in the foot.

You would be best to order directly from Dell (unfortunately), the ram they use is oem and the closest you will get to matching it would be the kingston hyper x fury stuff.

I upgraded the 32gb of 2666 ram in my R7 with a 64gb kit of kingston hyper x fury (2933). Just keep the oem stuff as backup...

I am glad I kept my oem stuff as I had to send my kingston ram out recently for exchange due to one of the sticks becoming faulty. I was able to continue using my pc while I waited for my new ram to come back.

When you receive the order confirmation and details, you should be able to see the service tag number in the email (at least mine was back in October). Typing that tag number into the support page should give you the system configuration. But I would not purchase any RAM until you receive the system. Then you can visually confirm the RAM type, speed and manufacturer. No one is sales or service can state the RAM type with certainty until the system is built. Even if a RAM configuration is stated, you are never sure until the system is received. I was supposed to get an 8 GB module but in reality had 2x4 GB modules installed.

The advantage to ordering the RAM from Dell was that the RAM would have been matched sets and 100% compatible for dual channel use. Not to say what you purchase will not be, it probably will but more of a certainty with Dell. Just make sure to match with as much certainty as possible and do not buy budget RAM.

Iono about that 3 more sticks form dell was 1150$.  From Amazon 450$ not a hard choice there.  The Hyper X Fury is the exact same that came with the system.  Its just dell does not sell these individually for some reason.
