Disable the Dell software without having to uninstall it
Just got a Alienware Aurora R10.The system is built good and runs games fast with hardly any issues except for the software that comes pre-installed. I don't necessarily want to uninstall or get rid of things like SupportAssist because they can be useful at times by running coupled PC Doctor diagnostics.
But the software can cause issues like micro freezes and un-ending "successful application reconfiguration" entries and other errors in the event viewer and reliability history.
These are the steps I took:
In Services -
Disable SupportAssist & SupportAssist Remediation
Disable the three DellDataVault services
In the C:\Program Files\Dell\DellDataVault -
Rename all executables .exe files in the DellDataVault with a .off at the end example - DDVDataCollector.exe.off
In Task Scheduler -
Disable the task: "Dell SupportAssistAgent AutoUpdate"
Restart computer and enjoy without having to uninstall anything in case you want to re-enable it back in the future!
