New Aurora R10, AWCC Fusion Thermals and Overclock won’t load

Hi new Aurora R10 5600x. Set up as individual user not Microsoft user. Ran AWCC and everything works except that the Fusion part is stuck in a continuous loading pattern and won’t load. No thermal or overclock controls, just the spinning circle. Uninstalled AWCC and OC control per the Dell instructions, cleaned the registry per Dell instructions, and administrator reinstalled the latest Dell AWCC and OC programs. Updated windows and Alienware, even updated to the latest bios.

Still no Fusion ( thermals and overclock ) in AWCC, just the spinning loading circles of death.

I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Anyone find a working solution?

Thanks!

Logging in fresh install with a Microsoft vs.Private account made no difference with 2 separate fresh installs.

But I think I found the solution here:

https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R10-clean-install-AWCC-not-working/m-p/7850866/highlight/false#M43382

I figured out what may be wrong but can’t be helped about it at the moment. There is nothing wrong with my motherboard or processor.

It is the graphics card driver - Dell has a specific “Dell” download NVIDIA graphics card driver that corresponds to certain cards that will work with AWCC, the preset selection of AMD or NVIDIA cards that come with the R10 or corresponding models.

I read above if you try to use the NVIDIA website driver, AWCC thermals and OC may not work. If you use the Dell support download graphics driver that says “Dell” in the name somewhere, then the AWCC thermals and OC will work again.

I do not have the original graphics card, the RTX 3080, as it was sold, so until I get at least a 1660ti or higher model card that will accept the Dell proprietary modified Nvidia driver for the R10, then the thermals and OC will not work in AWCC.

I hope this helps someone else too.

Thanks for the help guys!

AWCC Fusion now works.

I picked up a used oem Dell gtx 1060 3gb off eBay and after installation, with drivers directly off Nvidia’s website, AWCC Fusion with thermals and OC started working.

Bottom line I guess is that the drivers do not have to be from Dell, but the card type has to be one of the minimum 10XX cards from Nvidia that is programmed into the AWCC software, or a corresponding Radeon card that meets the minimum requirements of the Dell gpu drivers (5 series?).

Thanks for all of the input.

Sorry to hear it did not work out for you. Hopefully the repair will make it better than ever.

The only other thing I can think off is OC support. I have an R10 with a 3700X, which is a 65 Watt TDP rated CPU. The 5600X is also rated 65 Watt TDP.

It seems from some conversation with other users on this board, that not all configurations have overclocking options available.

I do not have any available on mine either, and no PBO option in my bios.

Another user has reported PBO available to them in their bios, but they have a different CPU.

The profiles that enable such support are in a zip file in the AWCC directory. They are individual profiles for every CPU config, and some are indeed not there.

I am now wondering if overclocking options are only enabled on the higher TDP processors, and not on let's say the 65 Watt TDP CPU's.

It's a bit odd, but my AWCC works, just not the OC options for the CPU and Memory. The OC tab for the video card works, but I use MSI Afterburner for my video card needs.

1 thing you could check for is it you have the following 4 items on the main bottom right screen in AWCC: overclock, thermal, audio, power. If one or more of those is missing, it will cause issues. Sometimes my audio goes missing from it.

I think AWCC could use a little overhaul. It seems to be prone to issues based on various other reported issues by other users,

Can you check the windows event log and see if any errors are recorded?

Thanks Vanadiel,

Remote support tech went nuclear and reinstalled a fresh Dell Alienware Windows 10 and went thru the event logs after AWCC and OC control installation. Still spinning circle of death, saw some kernel errors in several places with AWCC. Revo uninstalled and reinstalled. No change. They are scheduling a mobile repair to replace the motherboard and 5600x. Guess I wont replace the loud fans yet...

Thanks. As long as there are other R10 5600x owners that have AWCC thermals and OC working I have hope. Don’t really need the OC portion as Ryzen Master can take care of that and the RAM is OC 2 XMP in the latest bios already. But more of the issue of not having thermal temperature fan controls and profiles.

Will keep this thread posted. I kind of wonder if not logging into windows 10 with a Microsoft acct has anything to do with it ( elected to create an initial admin acct offline to avoid the cross computer Microsoft tracking).

Never tried that. I have a local and Microsoft account, in case the Microsoft login is down.

Only happened once this year, but if you don't have a local account and the Microsoft authentication services are experiencing issues, you can't log into your windows account.

Always keep a local admin account for those unusual situations.

Hello i finally found the root of the problem, If you have "Kaspersky Antivirus" that is the problem, the "AWCCService" has  in the setup a delay start configuration, the antivirus always loads first and i dont know why but it doesnt let all the services load as they should. When the "OCControl.services" tries to load after the "AWCCService" loads it opens and closes multiple times until it stops trying to load.

But there is one very simple solution that i found, it is the "Kaspersky Antivirus" that it is causing the problems, that is why i have it in all my Alienware machines (1 PC Area 51, and 2 Lap´tops M15 R2), the solution is:

Turn on your computer after entering windows inthe lower right corner of your screen is the "Kaspersky icon":

Just right click with your mouse on it and exit the Antivirus.

Then wait for a minute while AWCCService and OCControls loads, you can check in task manager when OCControls loads:

After it loads you can now open the "Alienware Command Center" and everything should be fine and working.

Afeter this you can activate again the Antivirus "Kaspersky" and everything works ok.

I tried to reach "Kaspersky" to tell them to solve this problem by e-mail, but they answer me with a response that you can find by your self in the help section of their antivirus, they do not care to fix this. Well next time i wont be buying "Kaspersky" again.

This solution is very easy if you have the same problem it is your Antivirus software that it is causing it, i tried puting all the proograms in a special section (in AV Kaspersky) that avoids causing problems for the software but it doesnt work you have to close it, or the services wont load.

I hope it helps everyone with this problem.

Regards.

I use the latest Nvidia drivers directly from Nvidia.

Both thermal and video card OC controls load fine in AWCC.

What does not load is the CPU and Memory OC controls in AWCC. Like I pointed out, what you get is based on the profiles DELL supports with AWCC. If DELL does not supply your configuration with a profile, you will get no CPU or Memory OC controls under AWCC.

As you can see below, the profiles jump from R9 to R11.

There are no profiles supplied by DELL for R10 configurations.

I had the same problem with my r10. My solution was that I downloaded the Alienware OC Controls Application.

For the firs run it has uninstalled the OC app then for the 2nd run it has reinstalled it. After a restart everything was working.

Hope it helps!
