Why is Window Store Taking Over Dell's APP Aurora R9

Jump to solution

Its a brand new Aurora R9.  Window store keeps replacing the original Alien Command Center application 5.2.81.0 to Microsoft store version when i tried to launch it.  I've been trying to remove the app, and re-install DELL version but it  will update to store version when I launch the command center, and the funny thing is Store app Version Alien Command Center is the same ver 5.2.81.0. and when I launch it, it will ask to sign-in to microsoft store to use the alien command center.  😞

I also noticed that Microsoft Store update and modified following app, Alienware Customer Connect, Dell supportassist for PCs, Alienware Control Center, Alienware command center, Alienware Mobile Connect and Alienware Digital Delivery. You can tell this by looking at The Advanced options+Move(greyed-out)Button on the app that have newer install date.  There's option in the store app that let you turn off the autoupdate which i have done so but left off with bloody Apps like Candy crush, twitter, skype, etc that automatically downloaded by the store and they cannot be removed from the ready to install list.  Anybody having these issues?

Please let me know the solution, Thanks.

When you received your R9, it scared the out of you with that Cortana lady saying "HELLO!" right? 😂

So you got over the initial shock, maybe like me, tried to hide the fact you bought a new computer, and followed the prompt to connect to your network. BIG MISTAKE.

Once Win10 setup gets your network access, it will make you create a user account but it is linked to online MSN Microsoft account. The whole point is to make you and your R9 part of the cloud. That's why you get all this Microsoft Store login shenanigans.

One way is to disable that account on your PC and create a local account. In the search bar, type "Account" and you'll see "Manage your account". I don't know how it looks like in yours because mine is local but you should see something like "Logoff and use local account" or something with that meaning. Do that, and it should give you a ton a warnings that your life is so uncool with the local option. Also, if you create a local account, you lose access to files that have been archived to the cloud. If you understand the consequence, then do so.

With local account, Microsoft Store will barely bug you. For me, it's only when I need to play Forza Horizon 4. 😞

But then you lose sync with your cloud storage.  You shouldn't have to do that to get the PC to work correctly.  My PC works okay with the auto updates disabled and auto signed into msft on startup. Honestly, I thought the way he wrote up the problem was pretty funny, but I totally understand the aggravation.

Cloud storage? Have you watched "Nobody Understands The Cloud"? 😂

Here's how I do my "cloud storage". I have 2 portable HDD backing up stuff every day. They are in different rooms in the house.

Once a year or 2, I make a copy of that, and bring the copy with me while visiting family on the other side of the globe. There, I toss that disk into a locked cabinet in my mostly vacant apartment.

EDIT: I'd build a bunker to store my personal cloud in the North Pole but I suppose corona has all the billionaires scrambling to build their mansion bunkers there already.

I have, 1 regular macrium backups of the primary drive to a separate drive in pc, 2. Regular streamlined backups to cloud, 3. Periodic backups to an external hdd which are also transferred to a laptop.

Well don't forget you according to a Groupon deal I keep getting spammed with, you can buy land on Mars now too, the only logistical problem is getting your data there.
