17 R4 BIOS not updating, trying to allow overclocking

I get an error message "Running on an unsupported system" while trying to upgrade the bios. Am I able to upgrade? I'm looking to manipulate overclocking but am unable to do so and I assume because of the bios version. I tried going into bios but there's no options listed (missing compared to other 17 r4/15 r3 I've seen). I also tried Intels Extreme Tuning Utility and sections to change values are greyed out.
