A request for support

Greetings

I would like to make a support request for m15x computers.

Like many, I've been a long time customer of Dell Computer.

Nearly three years ago, my Inspiron laptop had become very outdated.

I learned that Dell Corp. had bought Alienware Computers and decided

it would be a safe bet to buy an m15x laptop.

After a year, driver and BiOS support had ended for the m15x Ripley.

Alienware eventually came up with some Win7 drivers but there has been

no progression since that time.

I can understand the need for a support lifecycle, but I believe it's

reasonable to expect driver and software support for a machine that was

well under the end of it's three year warranty.

The Alienware support personnel tell me that none of the drivers posted

on the Dell website can be used on my computer, and that new drivers

will not be posted on the Alienware website. It seems that I'm one in a

group of your customers that have been left in the cold. Therefore, I'm

sincerely asking Support to fix some of these issues.

Here is a short list of the issues with drivers and software. Most of

these were present in Win Vista and persist in Win7.

Command Center has never worked without problems. The successive versions

available don't work correctly either. AlienFusion and Facial recognition

are disastrous, the latter nothing more than a long delay at start-up.

There's no opt out for any of the applets included in the Command Center

installation. AlienFX is all we really need.

The On-Screen Display Utility doesn't work correctly. The pop-up status

display for the volume slider does not appear, and there is a non-functional

volume slider in the Windows volume control interface.

The computer (Touch Sensitive Control board?) does some sort of shut down

before proceeding with boot-up after the computer is started.

Thank you for reading this at least,

L.Andersen

Hello. Sorry to hear of your difficulties. My name is Darin and I work for Sensible Vision - creators of Dell's FastAccess and AlienSense. Although I can't help with your general driver issues, I would like to offer myself as a resource to address your concerns with AlienSense itself. It's possible that on an older machine that your AlienSense version may be out of date. If you can no longer get updates from Alienware, please feel free to contact me directly using any of the publicly available support email addresses on our site and I'll walk you through the process. Hopefully that will do the trick, but if there are additional questions or issues then we can take a look at those together as well.

Thanks.
