Re: AC Adapter currently connected is not supported

Hello Ghaith,

Since you have tried with new Battery and AC Adapter and still facing the same problem, I would suggest which would help us in isolating the issue further.

  1. Check in BIOS setup the status of the battery and the AC Adapter.  To enter BIOS Setup, restart the computer and keep tapping F2 at the Dell logo screen. Choose the tab for Power and check the Status for AC Adapter.
  2. Disconnect the Battery and try powering on the computer only with the AC Adapter and check how it goes.
  3. Also try powering on the computer only with the Battery and check the functionality.

Please try the steps and write back with results.

Thanks & Regards

Re: AC Adapter currently connected is not supported

Dear Allan

I Follow all the paint from the Check in the BIOS , AC adapter and this is what is happening :

1.I Connect the AC adapter to the computer and login to the BIOS setup , the A/C  adapter status is empty after that I login to the windows and force the computer to read the adapter and start reading the AC .

2. I restart the computer and run the BIOS again I found the status for A/C  Adapter different  is start read   150 watts.

3. I run the computer on the Battery it is working fine and also run the computer on the AC without the Battery it is working fine in the windows but the BIOS cannot read The AC .

I believe there is a problem inside the BIOS, or with OSD program , I'm confused now

I hope this is can help you understand the problem .

Thanks

Ghaith

Re: AC Adapter currently connected is not supported

Hello Ghaith,

The issue seems to be an issue with the port on the motherboard where we connect the AC Adapter and needs a replacement. Does the computer have an active warranty? You can check the warranty status here. In case of expired warranty scenario, we would not be able to extend warranty entitled services. If the warranty on the computer has expired, you may contact our Expired Warranty Services (this is for US based customers).

Thanks & Regards

RE: AC Adapter currently connected is not supported

Have similar problem!  My AC adapter supports plug in but does not charge the battery.  The AC adapter did charge the battery until about a month ago, Bought a new battery from Dell, but the AC adapter still does not charge the battery.  Have checked the AC adapter with a Voltmeter and it is delivering a good voltage to the computer.  Will sure appreciate some help!

RE: AC Adapter currently connected is not supported

I am sorry to hear that. I haven't found a solution. In fact my computer is unusable because it is locked at a very low CPU speed since it can't sense "the correct adapter." This is really poor design by Dell. My system is cleaned regularly and doesn't even have a scratch on it and yet the system overheats within 15 minutes of gaming. I also keep the room < 70 F.  Dell has tried to repair my original laptop and eventually replaced it with a whole new laptop, but the problems persist. I have given up on Alienware and I am telling all my friends, who want to purchase other performance laptops, to buy different company. By now around 12 friends who were about to buy Alienware have purchased from different vendors like Razer and Asus. Hope this number keeps growing! Alienware was once company a very reputable company in performance PCs. If Dell can provide me with better product support, things will start to change. Anyways, my rant is over now and I hope you guys might have a better experience from Dell.

EDIT. I also want mention that the internal components of the laptop are awesome. I have nothing against that. It is just the way that they assembled the system with a weak mobo that causes the problem. Maybe the later models have resolved this issue but the older models sure do have the problems related to some weak components. Unfortunately, these systems are as strong as their weakest component.
