Alienware 15 R2 Wireless Status Light

This is my second laptop with the same problem. The status light does not come on when wireless is on. Do you have any ideas on if this is a problem with the laptop or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hello,

After escalating the case to Intel, this is what we got from them:

"Intel 8260 doesn’t support LED pin and there is no workaround. This issue has no impact on functionalities or RF performance. The impact to end user is very minimal. End users can still see the radio on/off by the system tray."

There is no hardware/software replacements needed. For further details on it, you can contact Intel directly.

Hi,

It should be controlled on its own, however you can try removing and reinstalling the On Screen Display driver. You can download it here.

Also, you can try updating the system BIOS.

Thank you for the quick reply, unfortunately the LED still will not come on. If you have any other suggestions I would be happy to try them. I really don't want to have to get a 2nd replacement for such minor issue.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the update.

If that did not do the trick it seems like we need to proceed with parts replacements. If you would, please send me your Service Tag through a personal message.

I have had the same issue with the wifi light on my R2 15 inch. It simply does not work.

The other issue is the webcam camera. Maybe it is designed this way, but it simply floats in its little area and you never know if it is going to fall down inside the led screen.

Same issue here,  I didn't notice it before then.

Thanks for replying. Good to know that it wasn't just mine. I'm debating on returning this one and trying a different one. It is a minor issue but you basically have to completely disassemble the entire laptop to replace the part.

Just curious as to which card is in each others system, the Killer or the Intel. Would be interesting in seeing if

there is a pattern in the problem....please let me know if the light works and the type of card in the system.

Thanks!!!

I never noticed this on my 17R3 until I read this post, but my wireless light is also not illuminated. I have the intel wifi card and actively use wireless.
