Alienware 17 R2 AlienFX Problems
I recently came across an annoying little problem where only my power button wouldn't light up, I'm also unable to dim or change the brightness of the lights. Now here's where it gets tricky, after running AlienwareFXTester the power button has lit up to all 4 of the colors successfully but stayed that color until I turned the computer off, the test was also successful . I've tried everything in the troubleshooting like updating drivers and BIOs, reinstalling ACC, and dim/undim lighting zones (which does not do anything). I would greatly appreciate any help!

I thought i was the only one who had this issue. Good to know there is someone like me having the same problem. I recently updated the BIOS and might have done a windows update. and then this happened. i did a power drain, and all the steps associated with it, downgraded bios etc. nothing works. the power button led lights up only when running the alienFXtester. and when i shutdown and restart it does not work. i wish dell addresses this issue soon. Overall the laptop performs like a beast. please help dell asap.

You can try to do Right click on the alienhead that's on the taskbar and click enable/disable, as well try to go dark and if any of those options help you I would recommend you to perform an Alienrespawn because there could be a software problem.

Hello,
Did you already try the Alien Respawn procedure that the previous representative recommended? This will take the system back to factory settings. Since the lights are still responding on the AlienFX tester, this could still be a software issue. Click here to view an article that explains how to do the Alien Respawn recovery procedure.

tried everything humanly possible. either dell has to release a patch for the command centre addressing this issue. or i should just move on without the power button led. :/

One more thing.
i was checking out some videos on you-tube where people start-up their alienware 17 r2 and the alienFX lightings turn on exactly when you hit the power on.
For me, it turns on once i log in and the ACC software starts.

Everything you described is exactly what happens to me, I honestly do think that one of the updates triggered this problem because this only happened after I finished all my windows updates. Hope Alienware looks into the ACC and hopefully fix the problem because all the lights are working 100% for me.
