Alienware Alpha, Use hdmi audio and optical audio at the same time?

Hi, I recently got a new alienware alpha, and I want to use hdmi audio for my TV, and optical audio for a sound system, but in the alpha up settings, it seems you can only use one audio output. Is there a way to use both? Oh and I can't test anything for the next 2-3 days, since I don't have all the wires yet, but answers/solutions are still helpful of course.  Thank you.

It's usually better to connect both computer and HDTV to sound-system (AVR) via HDMI. AVR is controller and is "in the middle".

SPDIF (Optical or Coax) can only handle 5.1 surround if it is in a digital bitstream (like from a DVD). HDMI is much better because it can handle multi-channel audio (like in games).
