Alienware Alpha not working with certain TVs via HDMI

I have been working with tech support on resolving an issue with my ZT60 plasma Pansonic TV and the i7 Alpha.  It does not launch windows.. everything else works fine until windows boots up then the alpa reboots.  I was told it was a firmware issue with my tv, but my TV has the most up to date firmware.  It has to be a problem with the video drivers.  Any updates on a resolution?
Thanks

Indeed is a TV firmware issue, are you able to try in a different TV?

Do you not have another TV or monitor? Verify the display device is not the problem, so you can move on to other trouble-shooting.

How can it be the TV firmware when it is already the latest firmware by Panasonic.  I am telling you guys, it is the NVIDIA drivers, please get them fixed.  I will give it a couple weeks,.. but I have a feeling this is a lost cause.  Might as well return the Alpha

Thanks

Ugh.. how can my TV be the cause when first of all I am not the only one on Amazon complaining of this issue, my ZT60 Plasma rated one of Cnets best TVs in history has the most up to date firmware, AND my Alienware x51 works just fine on it, and has been working well for the past 1 year with no hiccups.. Im even using it now.  Everything was working grand until the Alienware Alpha came into the picture.  Hmm??  Blame the TV?  Yeah right.

I think you misunderstand ... I'm agreeing with you. But since Dell said that, connect to something else and move forward.

Yes, I'm familiar with Panasonic ZT60 Plasma. I own a Panasonic TH-46pz850u (11th generation plasma) and still follow Panasonic HDTV lines/models.

Any updates to this problem because I want a fix before my return window ends. And don't blame the TV!  If my PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Alienware X51, Blu ray player, Wii U, Roku 3 and ATV3 all work on my ZT60, then it must be the Alienware ALPHA!  And believe me I dont have time to be a beta tester for Dell unless they pay me.

I am experiencing the exact same issue with a Panasonic LCD television. I was on the phone with Dell support for a bit last night working through this. They encouraged me to check my firmware, but it is fully up to date. Troubleshooting steps:

1) Was able to run Alienware Alpha from computer monitor

2) Was able to run Alienware Alpha from a different television

3) Uninstalled NVIDIA driver and the unit worked with my Panasonic TV until I attempted to reinstall the driver while connected to the Panasonic.

4) Tried different cable and HDMI port combos

5) Called Panasonic tech support and they were like "can you plug other computers into the TV?". I am able to plug at least two other systems into the television (both with NVIDIA cards) without issue.

The Dell support rep told me that they were starting to get other complaints of the same issue, and were going to update me on Wednesday.

I hope they figure this out soon!!

Hmm.. the 3810 driver is the one that the Alpha comes with standard.  I thought the Alpha UI ver 2.0.x came with Nvidia Driver 342 or 343 something that was an update to 33X that it came with when they started shipping.  I'm wondering if the UI didn't update correctly?  I will have to check mine when I get to it. While I LOVE the Alpha for what I need/do I think it was stupid (and always has been) to have a 'custom' graphics card that isn't fully supported by Nvidia/ATI

Sure did. Update to the most recent Alpha UI. The NVIDIA driver is the most recent one (9.18.13.3810). I also went through the Dell diagnostic tool and looked at the "blue screen diagnostic" section and it clearly states that the NVIDIA GPU driver crashes every time I plug in the television.

Fingers crossed on the next driver release! Also, I found some hacked NVIDA drivers that allegedly fixed this issue for someone on a Reddit forum. I will post back if that (temporarily) fixes the issue. At least we will know that it is a driver issue.

Have we updated the Alpha UI to the latest one?  I was told there was a Nvidia Driver update in the November or December UI Update.  I've also been told that a newer driver is going to be released soon.

I'm not sure! I had issues initially because the unit was plugged in to the Panasonic that causes the issues. The hacked driver really screwed things up. I had to repair install just to get my display back. Ugh. It looks like all of my drivers and settings are back to factory conditions. I will reapply the official updates and see if anything happens.

I guess I will just be patient with Dell support and hope that the new driver solves my issue. Patience is not one of my favorite virtues.

With same HDMI cable and via HDMI, right?

Problem points to Alpha.
