Alienware Aura R4 Power Button Broke

Hello,

Here is what happened:

  • The silver power button (the case looking part) broke
  • The black button that was pushed by the case broke too

See inserted image. Please note that the PC is out of warranty since 2014. What am I asking for?

  • What parts are needed to repair it?
  • How hard is it to put the parts together? I am not an expert but I am willing to try.

Hi,

The part that includes the power button is the Front I/O Assembly. Below are the part numbers.

  • 3NPG0 - Front I/O Assembly, ALX, Aurora R4
  • 405K6 - Front Bezel Assembly, Non ALX, Aurora R4

For dissembling the system, refer to part 1 and 2 of the Alienware Services YouTube video.

It is actually R3. Is it still the same parts?

No, it would be different part numbers. For the Aurora R3, I show the following parts:

  • Front Bezel Assembly, Non ALX, - 405K6
  • Front I/O Assembly, Incl. USB 3.0 Cable - 5W6MX

So I have the same issue as these other people. I previously had this component replaced by a Dell tech but since I'm out os warranty, I'm SOL now that it has gone bad again.

I just watched those 2 videos you suggested and so to be clear, do I have to completely disassemble the internals of my R4 ALX in order to remove the side panels that hold the front bezel that houses the parts I need to replace?
