Alienware Aurora Lockup's in BFBC2
Just got my Alienware Aurora a few weeks ago, I purchased it to play BFBC2 but have been experiencing lock up's every 30 minutes to an hour while playing single player. Just wondering if anyone has been experiencing the same problems? The sound starts to skip and the screen turns black and it requires a hard reboot.
Now that I think about it, I probably should have upgraded to the bigger PSU. I'm not sure why they even offer a 525W PSU in a system like this. Also I noticed by memory in CPU-Z is at 9-9-9-24 when it's spec'd for 8-8-8-24. Does this have something to do with the overclock?
Specs:
Alienware Aurora
i7 920 (3.2 OC)
6GB DDR3 1333mhz
ATI 5870 (Catalyst 10.2)
525W PSU

I would restore the OC settings back to factory defaults and see if you still get the issue. If not, then that gives us a place to start troubleshooting.
* Restart the PC
* Press F2
* Press F9
* On the Load Optimal Defaults screen, press the Enter key on Ok
* If running a Raid setup, select Internal Devices
* When you see configure SATA 1-6 as AHCI, press enter and change it to RAID
* Select OK and press Enter
* Press F10 to Save and Exit
* Test the game

I played for close to an hour and no lock up's on default settings. I'll test some more tonight. Do you think the PSU could be the problem with the overclock?
EDIT: I just looked at the Alienware Desktops and they don't even ship with a 525w PSU anymore...(They obviously ditched the 525w for a reason! It's not enough power!) Is there anyway for me to return my desktop and have the bigger psu added? I feel like it's bottlenecking my setup. Which is why I'm getting random restarts while overclocked.
I wish Dell's website would have told me that a 525w wouldn't be sufficient for a i7 920, 5870, and a factory oc. I would have just bought the bigger one and could be happily gaming right now. UGH.

What driver version are you using for you video card?
The power supply should be fine with just 1 5870.
After you load the lvl 1 overclock you may need to fine tune the settings.

The first thing I did when I got the computer was uninstall whatever version catalyst's came with it and installed 10.2 and updated my DirectX to the Feb redist.

I read on Tom's Hardware that the 5870 uses 384 watts under load. I'd imagine BFBC2 @ 2048x1152 on high settings could be classified as full load.
So that leaves me with 141 watts to power everything else in my computer including the AlienFX lighting. I'm almost positive that can't be enough.
