Alienware Aurora R4 PSU 875w?
Hey guys and girls I just purchased a new R4 i was wondering if there is an upgrade available over 875w. If so where can I buy it and what is the name of it. I want to go dual 6990 in crossfire or gtx 590 in sli. Also can I use sli or crossfirex only? Sorry on grammar. Thank you

Chris from DEll mentioned in another topic that there is plans to have an option for a higher PSU in the R4. No idea when it will be available though.
This is from that post-
* The Aurora-R4 currently ships with an 875W power supply unit (J556T,W299G). A 1KW power supply unit will be made available as an upgrade option at a later time to support SLI or CrossFireX
* The Aurora-R4 must have any two identical Dell OEM (original equipment manufacturer) video cards mentioned in the list at the bottom. Dell will not support retail video cards in SLI or CrossFireX
* Both cards must be inter-connected using the Dell OEM SLI (RKT14) or CrossFireX (PJG49) bridge

Wait a second so you can't have SLI with two retail cards? Because last time I checked getting video cards from dell individually wasn't the easiest thing to do. Is this the case for all Aurora's?

I have a alienware aurora r3 it came with a 875 power supply, and i upgraded it to a ocz 1250 watt so i can run my Gtx590s from asus, everything works and looks better than before.
Not all power supplies fit i tried maybe 5 before i found the best match.

Nice job. Good work on the cabling also.
So, no problems with the MIO-Board? I thought the stock PS supplied power to the MIO-Board's Molex power plug even when the PC was off ... but at least plugged in. When you boot up, are the fans and lights correct during boot up -OR- just after Windows starts to load? Not a big deal, but still wondering.
So, did you try any Corsair power-supplies ? Too bad the fan has to point down because of the divider plate between the PS and video cards.
Keep us posted on the SLI 590s and external liquid cooling.

same motherboard, I have them both inside the gtx590s and they fit really good, however they get hot!!! not much room in between both of them nvidia recommends having them between slots for better cooling, I had the 6990 x2 and they dont fit at all!! the gtx590s are 2.0 they are made for 2.0 and the motherboard is also 2.0 gaming is amazing ill have videos soon i just got the water block today and ill have them by Sunday.

Lol its not so hard to do just follow the cables make sure you have no static try and get an anti static rist band if not just touch something metal and your static should go away if you have any, then follow the cables unplug everything and get the psu plug everything back up theres alot of plugs that dell doesnt use that are hidding so youll find them.
ill try and post something for you.

under full load both 91c 87c using afterburner 290.53 drivers now i installed 1 card to do a test run and its running at 38c just at iddle, no gamming yet. The only thing i worry about is the corrosion from the vga blocks being copper and the Zalman resornator being aluminum
I am going to do a bit more research and see if the coolant they have from zalman is enough or ill just get another kit all together . (ZM-G200 cooling and anti-corrosion)
