Alienware Aurora R5 M.2 Speed

I just received my new Alienware Aurora R5 with a 512 GB M.2 PCIe SSD.  The specific drive that came with it was "Toshiba XG3 512GB NVMe THNSN5512GPU7".  Doing a benchmark test with HD Tune Pro, I am seeing average transfer speed of 512 MB/s.  A sequential read speed test is around 600-700 MB/s.  The specs for the drive say it should be able to reach up to 2,500 MB/s or at least significantly faster than what I am seeing.  Are these the expected results with PCIe or is there something wrong with my machine?

Running a different utility (Crystal Disk Mark), I am seeing read/write speeds in the 750-800 MB/s range, which is faster than SATA, so perhaps this is the expected performance?

I have done additional investigation, and it appears as if I am seeing pcie 3.0 *x2* speeds instead of *x4* speeds.  I have the GTX 1080 and 6700k processor.  Does this combination limit the number of pcie lanes available to the m.2 drive?

I also want to know the answer. Do you have any updates?
