Re: Alienware Aurora

Did you pay the $150.00 for the overclock? If so then call Dell and they will take care of it no matter what the issue is.

Re: Alienware Aurora

Download CPU-Z and see what it says: www.cpuid.com/.../cpu-z.html

The OC is done with the turbo. It's not a standard OC. When you stress the CPU or if you change the power setting to High Performance it will clock up.

Re: Alienware Aurora

Okay, I've downloaded the CPU-Z, im on OC Level 2 and it says core speed 1200MHz although some times jump to 3800mhz (i thought the level 2 OC was 4.1ghz) and it tells me my DRAM Frequency is 800mhz, which I thought i ordered 1600mhz :S

and the level 1 setting is on 3500mhz core speed and 800mhz dram frequency

..im so confused.

Re: Alienware Aurora

IIRC, CPU-Z only shows the clock of the first core or an average of all cores. That tool is really only for identifying processors and other hardware. Try T-Monitor.

IMO, it's better to stick to standard clocks in BIOS, High Performance Windows profile, and let i7 OC on-demand (TurboBoost).
