Alienware Graphics Amplifier + Nvidia Quadro Cards

Hi, I have the Alienware 15 R2 - Core i7-6700HQ + GTX 970m. I just want to ask if the graphics amplifier supports Nvidia Quadro graphic cards? I've read that these cards "optimize" and "boost" 3D and architectural programs like Autodesk Maya, AutoCAD etc.

Will the amplifier support NVIDIA Quadro M2000 / M4000 / M5000 or the M6000? Do they have the drivers for Alienware 15 R2? I've been searching for answers on the web but none found. Thanks in advance.

The AGA was never tested/validated with Quadro drivers or Quadro video card GPU. We only validated on the following video cards =
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660/660Ti/670/680/690/760/760Ti/770/780/780Ti/960/970/980/980Ti/TitanX/1070/1080
AMD Radeon HD 5970/6990/7870/7950/8770/8870/8950/8970
AMD Radeon R9 270/270x/280/280x/285/290/290x/390/390x

Even if it was possible, a desktop nVidia 970/980 (or better) in (even a middle-of-the-road) real desktop would be better. Most recent AutoDesk programs will render in Direct-X anyway. Plus, you might want to game or VR on it as well.

Only exception I can think of to this would be if you had a free or super-cheap Quadro card laying around. Watch for and verify OS driver support on old cards.

Hi Swardz

I have recently purchased a quadro M4000 for my amplifier for the purposes of 3d rendering with Autocad and 3ds max.

I first tried the K620 workstation card and the error i received was as follows

"The driver for this device might be corrupted, or your system may be running low on memory or other resources. (Code 3)"

I figured this was due to low power and the AGA requiring a card with power input however the M4000 with 6-pin power input returns the same error

After several hours of trouble shooting with the dell support team it would appear the card is incompatible.

If you still wish to try please advice me if you are successful. Hopefully my AGA is just faulty.

cheers,

Ben Britton

I have the same issue.  Was hoping somebody here had a different solution to get the quadro.  I have the M400 too.  Alienware 15r3 or r 2 (skylake one).  AGA throws that same error:  The driver for this device might be corrupted, or your system may be running low on memory or other resources
