Alienware Memory Fraud?

Well, I was looking at the Intel Tuning Utility to see if I could find a good speed to overclock to. However, I came across this:

Note, I ordered 1333MHz RAM. Does it say anything about overclocking?

As you can see from the chart, alienware simply charges $150 more than they should for 12 GB memory.

I hope I am wrong.

I get the same thing 1064 on default. I bought aftermarket memory though that is 1600 and I'm runnin it at 1900 so mine says 1064   1900    1900. So I think your good.

edit: overclock that puppy

It is our Forum, therefore, our opinion about what is vulgar and what is not is all that matters.

You can certainly create your own forum and draw your own moral lines in the sand. That is the freedom of Social Media. But bagging on us for wanting to have a family safe forum, is that really necessary?

By looking at the two screens, yours vs the other persons, their almost identical.  It is possible that your memory timings are off a little bit, did you check in that tab?  Its also possible that your RAM is of poor quality or you got a bad chip in there somewhere.. but I would check the timings, bump them up by 1 or something and see if that works.. it should tell you what the new speeds would be before applying the settings.. just be careful!

o.k. your cpu is overclocked to 3.2 so that is 160BClk x 20 multiplier. Your memory speed is going to be 160 x memeory multiplier which can be 6,8,10 or 12. So we get 160 x 8=1280 if you want 1333 memory you can downclock your cpu to 2.6=133x20   and memory is 1333x10=1333. Basically you got exactly what you paid for. You should read up on these settings and then have at your computer. Here;s some reading to help get you started.

and this is the best guded you will find(my opinion) on starting oc'in an i7

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it as I doubt you would notice a big difference... It just sounds like your ram is running a little slower then stated and the clock speed (or whatever it is) is down by a point or two.  If you really dont feel comfortable messing with those settings (and I dont blame you) then I wouldn't touch them as you can risk burning out components.  You could call Dell and have them go through the settings with you... I believe Chris M stated they have a preset already done for the 'max' overclocking recommended.. you could see about that.. or wait for chris to reply...

Did you read what I posted? Do you understand it? Figure it out! It's not hard. If you want your memory at 1333 put your BClk at 167 then your oc will be at 3.3. Setting your BClk to 167 shouldn't require any other settings since it is still a low oc

You should be able to do it in intel extreme tuning utility.  Use the pull down menu hit 167 aplly and then save to bios restart and you should be good to go.

Thats my point it is running correctly you paid to get a 3.2 overclock with that overclock the memory is running a little slower. It's still 1333 memory. And you could probably get it to run at 1600 no problem on that 3.2 oc by changing the memory multiplier to 10.

i shouldnt have to mess with anything and alienware should have made sure things were running correctly before the order was shipped. thats like buying a car for 400 horsepower but them putting a governor on it and someone saying hey, u paid for this extra power but here, tamper with it urself to get what u paid for.
