Alienware X51 R3 Upgrades - Question about RAM and SSD

Hello everybody.

I own a X51 R3 with the following specs:

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz 32 °C, Skylake 14nm Technology
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel Unknown (15-15-15-36)
Motherboard: Alienware 026CD3 ( 0) 28 °C

Graphics: LEN LI2323swA (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 530 (Dell):

2048MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (NVIDIA) 33 °C

ForceWare version: 359.06
SLI Disabled
Storage: 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1ER164 (SATA) 31 °C
Optical Drives: HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GS40N
Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio

I want to (for no particular reason, I am very happy with the X51) upgrade its RAM and add a SSD,

I aim to 2x8 GB DDR4 HyperX Fury 2133, I was also looking at the ADATA GPX Z1 2x8 GB 2133, but the frame looks big and due to the compact desing of the case, I doubt it would fit.

and SSD V300 120gb (or 250gb) Kingston kit, includes both cables, the data and the power one witch, If I understand correctly its connected to the main hard drive.

I did some research and think the ones I have chosen are compatible but your input in the matter would be highly appreciated. I also want to know if I will have a problem with the power source? would the SSD require more power than I have?

Cheers and Thank you.

RE: Alienware X51 R3 Upgrades - Question about RAM and SSD

Hi,

I cannot confirm if they will function properly since its third party upgrades but they appear to meet the requirements. You could also try posting this on the Notebook Review and Alienware Arena forums for assistance.
