Alienware x51 Needs Upgraded, Suggestions?

I have the Alienware x51 and it definitely needs upgraded to be able to handle newer games. What can I do with it to maximize the performance of it? It was the best package available when the Alienware x51 was first announced. It had a problem with the Processor, if I remember correctly, and Dell had to come and replace it. Since then the lighting quit working and its been pretty much a computer for accessing the internet. Doesn't handle games well at all.

I would add an ssd hard drive and a better graphic card.  GTX 960 or a 970 reference card.

I have the same machine. Runs all games.

OS - Windows 10 Professional

Stock - i7 2600, 8 GB Samsung RAM, OEM GTX555

Upgrades include:

CORSAIR XMS 16GB

Stock 1TB HDD replaced with SSD Adapter Tray and 512 GB SSD

970 Not recommended for the R1. Even though I've been running the 970 successfully since 2014, it requires careful tweaking and custom settings. I am a professional, don't try this at home...

960

Have 400+ Steam games that run off one of my USB drives.

So what do you recommend for graphics card for someone who's not a professional at this? lol

960

I'll be upgrading to Pascal later this year.
