For the most part you can use any 120mm closed-loop water cooling unit available in the market. Corsair Hxxx units are very popular and a few members on the forums have installed H60 and H80 units. I personally upgraded to a H75 with no issues.
Few things to keep in mind...
Fans: All Fans in the Aurora R5 system are PWM fans. These are easily identified because they use 4 pins instead of 3. PWM fans can be RPM controlled much more precisely than 'normal' fans. If you want to maintain the quiet characteristics of this system it is recommended to use PWM fans. Most water-cooling kits do NOT ship with PWM fans. You will notice a slight increase in fan noise if, for example like me, you install an H75 with standard fans. Youll notice a slightly louder hum coming from the system. After installing the H75 I ordered a set of Corsair SP120 PWM Quiet Edition Fans.
BIOS: once you install the K processor the BIOS will detect this and EXPECT that you are water cooled. This is because Alienware does NOT ship the system from the factory with a K processor and an air cooler. If you do not upgrade to a water cooler at the same time you upgrade to a K processor when you boot up the machine you will hear very loud CPU fan noise as the system will push 12v to the factory fan and it will spin up very high. This is normal. Make plans to upgrade to a water cooler at the same time you install the 6700-K chip to avoid frustrations.
