Changing the graphics card on the new Alienware 14,17,18 laptops
Can you change the graphics card on the new alienware 17 (the one that comes with the cheapest package) to GTX770M or GTX780M? It seems that there is no option of changing the graphics card in the customization section of this specific package model

Yes, it will be upgrade-able afterwards. You can get it from us or on the aftermarket.

For the X51 R2 the highest video card is the GTX 670. Maybe in the future our engineers are going to fit a better video card on this system, but for now, we don't have any information.

Hi Nikpower19,
On the Alienware United States' website, the cheapest package has the option to get the GTX 770M, and the second package has the option to get the GTX 780M.

i am asking because i found weird the fact that i dont have the option to choose the gtx780m on the 1st package .... so if i purchase the 1st package , it will be of-course be up-gradable if i decide to upgrade to gtx780m right ?

No, Alienware 14's gpu is soldiered into the motherboard, so it not possible to upgrade, I know this because my friend has the 14 inch model. If you need any more help, feel free to reply

Yes, you could do that, but I would recommend a 780m because it is way cheaper, but has almost the performance of 880m (780m is a lot stronger that 770m).

Ok, so we can upgrade it, but it's nowhere to be found on your website as an item we can order. Give me a link to the product page where we can browse and order replacement graphic cards for these laptops. Thanks.

I contacted Dell local support today and they told me they do not support GPU upgrade. I also wanted to update my 770m to a 880m but more or less they told me I should by a new laptop...Why are we buying then such an expensive laptop if we cannot upgrade its essential parts???
