Does Area 51-R2 motherboard support NVMe SSD via PCIe?

Does Area 51-R2 motherboard support NVMe SSD such as Intel 750, Samsung SM951 NVMe, HP Turbo Z G2?

I know the Windows 8.1 have the driver for the NVMe PCIE card but I never had the chance to try. If you install with Windows 7, you need to install the driver during the Windows installation.

Can you see the Intel SSD 750 drive when you run a fresh install of your Windows?

P.S. If you want a fix for your Intel SSD 750 in the next BIOS, you'll have to send a request to the Alienware Technical Support Level 3 and tell them you were able to run Kingston HyperX 240gb in a PCIE x4 but not the Intel SSD 750.

Can you try to do a fresh install with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to see if that can boot up your Intel SSD 750 first?

If the drivers can boot up your Intel SSD 750 with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 then try to do an upgrade to Windows 10 and not a fresh install. After that you'll know if the problem is coming from which drivers for which OS or a BIOS's firmware.

I purchased a Samsung SM951 with an adapter and I could not get the bios to recognize this as a bootable drive. I could use it as a secondary drive but that defeats the purpose.

I have v3 of the bios on my Area 51 R2, but still didn't give me a way to configure.

Did you get the SM951 to boot up? if so, how did you do it. I'm getting ready to send it back to the seller.

nvme to be honest is pointless

a Vertex 4 is the same feel unless you are doing massive productivity work you won't feel anything

I'm even on a 5930k and 32gb of DDR4 nvme 400GB

no difference felt from 4690k 32gb DDR3 Vertex 4

NONE, even installs take a while

I would like to add an Intel 750 but based on the posts here, the card is not ready to be used for the Area 51 R2 machines. I was unsuccessful getting a Samsung SM951 with adapter to boot on my Area 51 R2 machine. PC never saw the drive as a bootable drive in the bios.

It sounds like bank999 got a Kingston PCIe SSD card to work how their machine. I left a message to find out more of how they got it to boot.

Thanks,

Greg

Can you post a snap shot of AS SSD benchmark results from the hyper x m.2? I curious what the REAL world results are in the sequential read/write.

Thanks
