Dual layer DVD support for Alienware X51 Desktop

Hi

How do I know if my machine  can burn dual layer DVD?

I have the following information from the product invoice:

V211292NZ - Alienware X51 Desktop, Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob,

Alienware X51 specifications suggest it has dual layer DVD so it can burn and read DVDs but it can only read Blue ray disc and not burn it.

Nero Info Tool

or Tools/Drive/Capabilities inside ImgBurn

Also a Tip ...

Single-Layer burning is less sensitive. If you must Dual-Layer, try Verbatim brand "DVD+R DL". When permanently archiving data, I use high-quality Single-Layer 4.7gb. Always use Verify option.

Are you burning data files or movies?

I still haven't the chance to burn a DVD DL (dual layer) yet, when I get the chance, I will close this thread with the suggested answers.

Thanks for replies, please be patient while I get the chance, it may not come soon.
