Hard drive stopped working
Wondering if anyone can help, I've had my alienware x51 for just over a year and had no problems, but for the past say 3 weeks after about 15 mins or so of it having been started up it would give me the blue screen of death and there reset itself. I found out that the problem was something to do with the hard drive soo I've just ordered a new one and it arrived today and I've just put the new one in but when I start up the system it comes up with internal hard drive not found and gives me three options either strike f1 to reboot, f2 enter setup menu and f5 enter PSA. I've tried all three of these options and nothing seems to work. If anyone has any suggestions they would be great thanks

you'll be jsut out side of warranty, unless you opted to extend it! :(

ahh well thats the problem.
you see, the old disc that malfunctioned should have had a recovery partion on it, incase you needed to restore your computer. which dell uses rather than send out a simple dvd (I'm having problems with them about this!) but as its a new drive there's no such partition.
what you'll need to do is purchase a copy of your preferred operating system (windows 7 or 8 I'd reccommend) - Make sure it's not an upgrade copy unless you have a previous version of windows. I'll set ya back a bit. but installation should be pretty easy, ( depending on bios config for win 7)
