Hardware Virtualization on Alienware M17 R2

 Hey guys,

I need to enable Hardware Virtualization on my Alienware M17 R2 for a university project. However, I cannot find the option in the BIOS settings. Is there a way of enabling this feature. I've got a Core I7 620M. Software Virtualization does not solve my problem...

Regards,

Florian

I am having this same issue with my Alienware M14 R2. There is no option in the BIOS, and there aren't any BIOS updates available.

More specifically, it's a IVB, I7-3610QM, 2.3Ghz. VT is supported at the CPU level.

Which model CPU?  Not all support VT - and among those that do, not all types of VT may be supported by all CPUs.

Hi all,

I am facing the same issue. I am using M14X R2. I am having VMware workstation 8.0 installed on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I am using the processor Intel Core i7-3840QM. I checked on the Intel site and conformed that this processor does support VT-x. I checked in the BIOS that the Virtualization is Enabled. But still I am getting this error when trying to create a new VM for Windows 64 bit, " 64-bit guest operating systems are not supported by this host and will not run" . I ran MS tool to check the VT compatibility and it says VT is NOT supported. This seems weird. Is there anything I am missing out here?
