How can I tell if I have USB 3 or just USB 2
Bought an Alienware Aurora ALX in late 2010 -- would it have USB 3.0 or just 2.0? If it has 3.0, does that apply to all USB ports on the desktop, or just certain ones (and if so, how to find them)? Is there a way to tell in device manager or otherwise?

Hi Desslock,
Alienware Aurora ALX does not have built in USB 3.0 ports. All the six USB ports are USB 2.0.
The information is not available in device manager.
You may connect a USB 3.0 card if you need that functionality.
Hope it helps.
Thanks & Regards

You can go into device manager and expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller and that should tell you what you have. I have the Aurora R4 I bought last Oct. and it has 8 USB ports, but only two are USB 3, one in front and one in back. I have a USB3 external hard drive pluged into the front USB3 port and it is much faster then the USB2.

Thank you - that's what I expected, given when 3.0 started rolling out, but wanted to confirm since I'd heard that the MB might have had 1 or 2 3.0 USB slots. Fast enough for me, but wanted to take advantage of it if it was available. Thanks again.
