Location of AlienFX
Does anyone know where the actual chip or whatever runs the whole lighting effects is located? Is it on the motherboard or keyboard? I have an M17x R1. If that makes any difference.

Good question. Wonder if it's just software based or if they use a board like they do with the desktops.

I bought a used laptop where none of the lighting works, not even the Alien head or menu bar with all the touch buttons. I've heard if nothing works you have to replace the motherboard, but I've also read that the keyboard can be flashed wrong or something. I have another M17x but I'm not sure if it would work. It's an R2 and this is an R1. I don't want to mess anything else up. Getting through to Tech support is too much of a pain so I won't bother with them.
