M14x Charger issues

Jump to solution

Hi,

I been having a charging issue for my laptop, on start up it informs me that the battery has been disabled. When I went into my bios, it says that the charger needs to be reseated and allowed to cool down. However I let it cool down for 24hours and still the fault remains.

I have updated my bios and I tried a battery test, my laptop passed the test, it appears to be holding 100% charge. But due to this issue, the moment i unplug it, it isnt allowing the battery to work. Does anyone have any ideas please?

The issue has been resolved, I had an engineer look at my pc. The fault was actually a mother board issue. For some reason the mother board decided to disable the battery, and nothing could be done to unlock it so the board was replaced.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Anyone?

I have searched high and low for an answer, everyone from bios update (I am on A14), unplug power and battery and hold power button... altho it says unplug it then turn it off, but due to this problem if i unplug the charger it turns off instantly. Yet the battery test proves the battery is ok...

Any ideas? Could my charger be faulty? or is there a way to force it to re-activate my battery?

Hi,

Which battery test did you run? Have you tried the AlienAutopsy battery test?

Does it say AC adapter type "Unknown" in the BIOS? Is the LED light on the AC adapter always ON or does it turn off when you plug it to the laptop?

Hi,

I dont the battery in the diagnostics and autopsy all come back good. The Charger shows 150W in the bios, and when the charger is unplugged and plugged into the laptop the blue LED is on at all times. But in advance in bios is tells me "battery charging has been temporarily disabled, please re-seat charger, turn off and allow to return to operational tempature" which i have done and still nothing.

I have even done the unplug/ power drain method to no avail.

The problem seems related to either the battery or the AC adapter. There's no way to know for sure until you attempt to replace one of the two parts.

If the system is still in warranty the replacement parts can be covered; you can call Tech Support in your country for further assistance.
