Ok, the fix works because the laptop doesn't turn off suddenly while gaming.

But I think there seems to be another problem right now.

So, I just tested Bioshock Infinite again with appropriate graphics settings and...

while charging I'm getting constantly 38-49 FPS and can game properly, but

while playing on battery the game's FPS drop frequently from 49 to 25 every few seconds (unplayable).

Does this mean that the device may not turn off while gaming on battery but in the end we're still

not able to play because the games are then unplayable?

Why would you want to play on battery? The logic of trying to do so doesn't make good sense. A battery powerful enough to do that well would be larger than the laptop, LOL. The system will underperform because a battery cannot provide more than a few minutes of power when the CPU and GPU are running full blast. The fix probably forces the system to a lower power state to keep the shutdown from happening. That would be the logical explanation for the FPS drops.

Best solution is to just hook up the AC adapter and have fun using the system the right way instead of trying to game on battery. Use the battery for web surfing and Facebook trolling. If you really "need" to game on battery, maybe buying a laptop built with wimpy components that don't draw much power is an option.

I definitely see your point. I am nearly always playing on battery, but sometmes you just can't hook up to

to the AC because of you being out or without a socket. So basically sometimes when you want to play but can't connect to the AC, then you must be able to bridge that time and in some sort this device is still a portable gaming laptop.

But I think it seems like the problem has been Bioshock itself. A lot of user are complainig because of FPS drops.

Hi Testerbongo,

GPU clocks on battery will always be lower than on AC.  This is because the total available power on battery is limited by the battery.

Remember that battery power is system level power, not just GPU.  We have to power the LCD, hard drive, CPU, system memory, GPU, etc… off the battery.  It is not possible for everything to be allowed to have maximum power.
