Hello, I've been an owner of Alienware since Christmas and for some reason today since yesterday, it seems to be locked on intergrated graphics and in some games, its the only graphic card they could detect. I have tried restarting my laptop 2 times, but I'm still locked down to the Intel Graphics. Does anyone know a solution to this?
Did you check in to the device manager under display adapters? Check if the nvidia graphics card is detected there?
Have you tried installing the latest bios A10? This sounds like the issue where the nvidia gpu isn't detected in because of version A09.
It detects it there, but I still have games still on integrated and I even tried changing to high-graphics for global, but I still get the same problem. Worst part, I can never find the games because I use Steam to install them.
Check out this article <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>, on figure #4 there is a workaround you can use to start your games with the discrete graphics.
I am having a similar issue but my Mx14 is only detecting integrated graphics always not detecting video card at all anywhere can not install drivers because its not picked up
I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.
In addition, I would suggest you to download the Nvidia driver from the dell support site and install it. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card driver from Video section onto the system and install it.
Please let me know if this helps.
Thanks for the info. I ran the diag and it showed no errors and it also did not show my Videa Card in that test process. But, with that being said I got back into windows and went into my device manager just to make sure i am still having issues with the Nvidia drive and drivers and it is now recognizing my card. I now have the drivers up to date and as far as i know now everything is working properly. Not sure what has been going on i went a few days without it and have even made arrangements to ship it off for warranty repair assuming it was dead. I am unable to really test the video performance at this time and will update if problems persists after this.
Again Thank you for the help
