M15x Recovery

Recently I have had a nasty computer crash and quite a lot of windows files got corrupted to the point where I have no choice but to reinstall Windows.

My concern with doing this is that I don't want to brick the fx controller on the motherboard as my warranty has run out. So what I'm asking is, is it safe to run Alienrespawn or the included Windows 7 recovery disc? I already know I shouldn't use the resource disc but are these methods safe to use without the risk of bricking the controller? I would start from scratch but I would rather hang on to the diagnostics partition and all the wallpapers, themes, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
