Microsoft Zune conflict with AlienFX

Problem: AlienFX will toggle (turn on or off) and LEDs will turn off when starting the Microsoft Zune software

Current Workaround: Open Microsoft Zune as administrator and the AlienFX/LEDs issue will not occur. We are investigating a permanent fix

Just FYI, that worked a couple of times, but now, even when I run Zune "as administrator", the AlienFX still shuts down.

Any other ideas?

My AlienFX still does not work with my MS Outlook 2007 and does not play nice with my HP Color Laser CM1312nfi tooklbox software.... But, most of the other issues were corrected in the last update 2.5.52.0. I think there are many Command Center updates coming in the next year or so.....hang in there...that's what I'm doing...

When I first used my Ipod / Zune devices and and software on my Aurora ALX  the FX would shut off. I checked " enable 3rd party " on the CC icon and restarted the computer. Never had the problem since , never used " admin"  option on other software.  Zune released an update today , I have not looked @ what it fixes.

By the way, following the initial suggestion, if I open Zune as an admin, this does not happen.

So my question is if Dell/Alienware has issued a fix?

I have checked off the "Enable 3rd Party AlienFX Access" and this problem persists. Anyone have any other ideas?

I have been having the same problem. Everytime I start up my Zune software ACC toogles all my LEDS. Even if I open as admin. I've toggled the 3rd party setting and still  no go. Hopefully a fix to this is coming soon. It's not really a big deal but it is an annoyance.

I am also having this issue.  When I open/close the Zune software my AlienFX will either turn on or turn off.  This occurs when opening the Zune software as an admin, I also have 3rd party access enabled.  Not a huge deal, but is annoying.

AURORA ALX , BIOS A09 I7 920 no overclock. 2 X HD 5870 CFX  10.10 no overclock. A/W CC 2.5. 52.0 A08 . PLDS DH 24AAS . 6GB DDR3 1600. 2 X 750 GB RAID 0 500 GB , 250  AND 32 GB drives. 16 gb ready boost. All programs and hardware updated to latest versions and drivers.  My zune software is set to turn on when device is connected, AW FX is set to enable 3rd party. If I turn off the device feature in Zune which allows the software to open the light will turn off. If I run CCLEANER registry cleaner and open zune the lights will turn off the first time. I don't use ADMIN to open any programs.

minor issue or not, for the price we all paid for our alienware, dell should fix it.
