.Net Error- Alien FX Problem?
Hi,
I've recently had the following problem. It mostly appears when I try to shutdown the computer but happened this morning when I tried to boot up. I'm running Windows 8. Any help much appreciated.
See the end of this message for details on invoking

Hi, please try the following steps in order, do not jump any step:
1- Uninstall Command Center
2- Download latest Command Center from support.dell.com
3- Uninstall .Net Framework 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5
4- Restart the computer
5- Install .net Framework 3.5 and 4.5
6- Run Windows Updates and verify there is no pending updates missing (avoid installing hardware driver updates).
7- Restart the computer
8- Install the Command Center just downloaded
9- If issue remains, please go to “Control Panel”, “Programs and Features” and choose uninstall Command Center, when setup loads, run the repair. This will fix any corruption in the AlienFX firmware.
The root cause has been identified as a Windows Update for .net framework.
With these steps order, we are able to fix again the lights again.

Hi Frank. Thanks very much for the info. The problem seems to have suddenly stopped, so I'm going to hold off for now. Also, I wasn't sure where to find the .net framework 3.5 and 4.5 downloads. Maybe you can post them here. Thanks again.

Hi Frank,
I'm currently on step 3, but don't see how to uninstall the .net frameworks. A google search has come up with mixed info. Can you tell me the easiest way to uninstall them? Thanks.

Hi, sure. Head over to Control Panel and locate the 'Uninstall or change a program' option. Look for the NetFramework software and uninstall it.

It's not listed in there at all. From what I googled, it's one of the microsoft updates, but I have no idea which KB number it is.
