New 28" Dell 4K Monitor

Greetings All, New Dell 28" 4K monitor connected to my Area 51 ALX with dual GTX295's. Looks awesome connected to my PS4. Looks good connected to my Alienware. I say only "good" mainly because I am still using a DVI out to HDMI in cable.....because.... Using HDMI in/out I loose startup video/Bios access...Any getting around this? Vid Card limitation? When I use the HDMI in/out my SLI drops to tri from quad using DVI, Is this correct? Would upgrading vid card to a newer single or even dual cards help with these items and get me any closer to native resolution of the monitor? Currently best is 1080P. Is the wiring connections the same for newer cards? Any comments/education are welcome. Thanks

Well for starters, I think any HDMI less than HDMI 2.x is 30hz only. This includes machines on both ends of cable.

I would use DisplayPort.
