These seem very cool, looks like they have new gen video cards!

I see the hybrid drives option have been replaced with caching SSDs too.

Hmm can the new Radeon 7970m cards be purchased as an upgrade for the M17xR3? Or is this component not upgradable?

Isn't the 675m just a minor revision of the 580M, much like comparing a 480/570 kinda deal.

The only reason I can see for upgrading is Triple HDDs, which many 17" laptops have.

Serious Frank, do Dell and/or Alienware have something against bluray writers or what ?

Its strange they're not staying with the M11x. I have been thinking of adding it to my collection along with my M17x. Pretty disappointed it's now discontinued and won't be upgraded.

I'm interested to know how the GT 650m performs.  Been putting off buying a laptop since the graphics options are meh unless you pay 1500+

Ordered my m17x R4 about 15 mins after the new systems were avail online.  I find it funny that the quoted time is a month for a brand new system.  no parts?  Hoping i get it way before the 5/22 Expected delivery date.

Is the previous post true? Are Dell dropping the M11x?

@AndrewSi - Yes, the site only shows the 14", 17" and 18" models now.

Hmm, I feel a bit of a trend here, first the new M17x's have the second card removed, the M15 is now gone and the M14x has intergrated graphics so if anything goes wrong you have to throw out the whole laptop, and now the M11x is gone to,

I would expect with the recent advances in computer tech ( as in being able to have components on both sides of board now, instead on one side only) and peoples general tendancy toward smaller and more compact devices, that dell would be refining the M11x, not canning it

This sought of thing makes me think that dell is just trying to push new alienware owners into buying more expensive items - but they would'nt do that would they :)  - they are not in this for the money, just the love, lolhahahahahaha

I buy dell for the warranty, even tho my experiences with them as a consumer rather than business has been questionable, but it was sorted in the end. If they make it so their warranty bricks my machine, I don't care, new machine every time :)

If you spend this kinda money, sorry but your stupid if you don't protect it :)

I would have to agree with you. The M11x was very popular. I'm guessing they thought it was taking sales away from the more expensive models. I bought one yesterday to go with my M17x anyway.

M20x would be what I'd buy next if it came with Ivy Bridge. I miss the old HP Dragon 20".

Why go 20 when you can go 34.6" :)

WOW - That is one really cool screen setup, definately have to put that one on the wish list for Alienware, what a concept, dual screen on a single laptop
