New Hard Drive Question

My Alienware X51 (2013?) was taking 10 minutes to start up.  After error checking the hard drive the problem went away.   This has me worried as I have a lot of important info (though mostly backed up).   I want to change the hard drive out from the 1TB to a 2TB for piece of mind as well as a bigger drive.

My question is how do I move the Factory Restart drive D to the new drive.  It seems mostly hidden.

Can I just format and partition the new drive,  copy the hidden partition to the new drive,  install the new drive into my x51 and boot with the factory D&D to install windows?

RE: New Hard Drive Question

Yes I will recommend you to perform a clean installation of windows in the new hard drive, make new partitions and copied the files you need.
