Hi Gamer1405,

Request you to use the below link and update BIOS and audio drivers:

http://dell.to/13z21pk

Input system service tag, select the right operating system and then download BIOS and under audio drivers download “Creative Labs CT9570 Audio Driver”.

If the above steps don’t work you may try uninstall/reinstall the application.

Also let me know if the sound works normally.

Do reply with your answers.

Gamer1405,

Open the Device Manager- Sound and see if you have multiple listings. One is the Sound Blaster Recon3Di. Do you see anything else in there?

Is this fixed for you? because mine still randomly goes in and out and and doesn't detect any audio even plugged into speakers when it goes out and has had the icon completely disappear and come back after about 5 restarts and registry cleaner ran and defragging it comes back   but this is getting me very aggravated it usually happens if the battery goes dead while leaving the system on and open or falling asleep to netflix and the computer go into sleep mode anyone else have this problem??????

Hi.  Thanks for asking and sorry for the late response. Now firstly My Problem is NOT resolved till now and I am still having a lot of issues with my sound blaster. Secondly i have my board exams till the 23rd of march so after that i will get back to solving this issue. My sound blaster problem is that i have to do multiple shut downs and restarts before the sound just randomly comes back online. This problem has been annoying me like anything (even though i am a person with a lot of patience) but still there is a limit to which someone can handle this issue. I truly understand your problem, and for the netflix part of yours just increase the screen timeout time. I will be active on this forum after the 23rd of march and resolve this issue for sure.

Hope you understood and this helped.

Hi, i had the same problem with my alienware m18x r2. The problem was almost solved after reinstalling the windows 8,  8.1 and downgrade the bios for A3 and after this i update again to A12 bios and  installed the last recon3di driver.

One detail is that I stopped using the sleep button and until now I do not see the problem with ``No sound card detected``. But i was testing this problem and i saw that the laptop after restart need be cold or the problem appear again.

Hope this is helpful. Same issue here. Boots fine and audio works. But if I close the lid for standby there's no sound when I open the lid to use laptop (i7 3740, 16GB RAM, SSD M14x r2) shows no sound device installed. I tried installing the links listed in the thread all fail with a similar no device detected type error.

Please note: I've already tried rebooting to working audio device > use device manage to uninstall and then tried to install drivers again. No luck either. Which is strange.

I believe its returning from standby so fast that maybe the audio device didn't wake in time and thus is missing on return from standby?

Anyway hope to see this patched soon. I was going to downgrade to Win 7 but a reply above says the problem it still there too.

Have you tried to flash the BIOS to the latest version?

Switched to Arch Linux instead. Besides this issue Win 8 itself just has too many set backs which make using the laptop tedious. Works like a dream now though! Using UEFI with Arch it boots in <5 seconds after entering system boot password. All drivers work including, sound, the 650M gpu and the alienfx work as well vis opensource app. Also getting longer batter life and just being error free is refreshing.

Alienware is really wonderful hardware! Thanks for following up.
