Received your system?

Due to the amount of delays AW is having, I thought it would be a good idea to kind of track the build progress of these systems, or at least have a guess.

Please post your order date, system type (just the model), and your shipping date.

Thank you!

In transit? Well it is not "shipped" out yet.

i called 1800 254 3692 and i was informed that it is currently in production, boxing stage. So you are saying that it takes a day or two for it to ship out to me??

thanks lisa!

If it is in transit - the process takes 24 -48 hours!

Hope this helps

Lisa

Ahhh this explains why mine has been in boxing stage for the past 3 days, I was beginning to wonder after calling again a little bit ago and had it on speakerphone. The ole lady thought it was pretty funny and we where wondering why it takes so long to box it. lol. So once it's shipped to the USA it then will be 3-5 business days from that point correct? (depending on shipping service used, in my case 3-5 days)

So this is an update from yesterday when I spoke with "corporate".

The lady never called back.

So, I called the Support number and they were able to track her down in India. She called back 4 hours later.

She was able to confirm that the "media card reader" is what is causing my delay. She said my machine is still not in the build process and wont begin until the media card is available. Once the parts are available it will take 12 business days to complete plus 3-4 business days to "box".  My supposed EDD is now 3/11/10 but ONLY if they start building the thing tomorrow -doubt it!

I let her know how disgusted I was with this whole process and she said there is nothing she could do. I kept asking her "who CAN do something" and she they were wokring on it internally - whatever.

She also said that she could not guarantee the 3/11/10 EDD and that she would call Friday to see if I wanted to cancel.

I told her that I was shocked at how they treat customers and that I will never purchase a Dell again if this thing doesnt ship ASAP. (but actually - im never purching Dell again - ever. )

So, thats the update.

Same ole, same ole story.

To keep current the latest word on the street is there are delays on the following:

PSU, 500GB HDD, memory, NVIDIA cards, media card reaxers and intel processors.

Good luck all!

That is so not fair!  Anthro, We pretty much ordered the exact same computer, except I have one model down graphics card (5770), the stupid media reader, and the UltraSharp 24" HD monitor.  Oh, and I placed my order on January 26th - you placed yours on February 8th - yet yours is making it's way into delivery prep and my negligent order is still apparently being worked on by the world's slowest elves!

Okay, so here's the latest scoop for my order status:

Original Order Date: 1/26/10

1st Expected Delivery Date: 2/10/10

2nd Expected Delivery Date (Informed on 1/27/10): 2/12/10

  • Called on 2/3/10 and spoke with a representative who confirmed my order was on target and no parts were delayed.

3rd Expected Delivery Date (Informed on 2/10/10): 2/19/10

4th Expected Delivery Date (Infomed on 2/17/10): 2/26/10

  • Contacted customer service 2/17/10 in writing through Dell website and received a response e-mail the following day, but learned nothing helpful.  My computer is one of the best and is in high-demand.

  • Contacted Lisa G. through this forum on 2/19/10 and my order delivery type was upgraded, but no guarantee of expedition of production.

  • Contacted customer service on the phone on 2/22/10 and spoke with one agent who didn't have the ability to do anything helpful or give me any new information.  She reiterated the information from the website about my new EDD and when I communicated my lack of confidence in EDDs from Dell and how they're pretty much a joke, she said the best we can do right now is hope.  I told her I didn't pay $3,000 for hope., I paid for a computer.  After an akward silence, she suggested that she could transfer me to "Notifications" where I could possibly get more information.  When I finally spoke with someone, he gave me an estimated shipping date of 2/23/10 .  The hotline isn't providing me with this for some reason, and only relays my computer as being in production and in build status, which hasn't changed since 1/27/10  Trust me - I check 4 or so times a day.

  • It's now the 23rd, no shipping e-mail, no change in status on the site or on the hotline, and I fully expect at 3:00 a.m. to receive a dreaded delay e-mail.  Does anyone else feel like banging their head into the wall repeatedly?

Origin more expensive than either VM or Falcon NW.  The latter two are very comparable and very close in price to the Alienware (that I priced out anyway).

Well, thanks to Lisa G and some luck, my wait is over.  Unit delivered today 2/23. I ordered on 1/23 and suffered thru 2 delays before receiving it a few days before EDD of 2/26. It actually could have been delivered yesterday but Fedex in their wisdom let it sit in the local warehouse for a day because they decided it wasn't scheduled for a 2/22 delivery. I'm signing off the forum and I wish everyone best of luck. I just hope my unit works when it comes out of the box.

Hi Jay,

I did pay about 500 dollars more, but I bought the 3 year warranty instead of the 1 year i bought with dell. I also downgraded from dual Nvidia cards to a single nvidia card. The thing with origin is you cannot buy a single or dual core processor, quad core only, so that where you take a price hit. But overall I spent about an extra 500$ but i am getting US built with US support and a guarateed ship date. So i feel better.

I suggest messing with the ocnfigurations on their site to see what you can do on the price.

One thing is for sure, the peace of mind that comes from not having to deal with Dell - priceless.

Good luck!

M--------------

PS: I confirmed they ship all their software, apps and the OS on non OEM DVD's that come "in the box" which is also nice.
