Running Ubuntu.Linux on Alienware 17x

Hi

I am thinking about buying an Alienware M17x machine and running Linux on it,  I not that interested in having a gaming platform, but much more interested in having a high spec laptop.

Are there any known pitfalls or problems doing this type of thing?

Are there any known heat issues on the M17??

Does anybody known how long it takes for Dell to actual supply a Alienware machine in the UK/Endland or would I be better off buying it from Amazon instead off dell direct?

i did this and 11.04 seemed to work fine except for sound

fix sound alienware

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

add this line at the bottom.

options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=alienware

i did not test the camera but wifi(abgn), bluetooth did work out of the box.
