Upgrading x51 CPU

I've already gotten the 330w power supply and a new GTX760 in there.  It's running great.  But I think it's time to upgrade the CPU and RAM as well.  The problem is I don't know which are compatable.  I got the version with the i5-3450, 8gb ram, and a GT 640 in it.  Not sure which version that is or how to tell otherwise.

I'd like to upgrade to an i7, and 16GB of RAM if possible.  What should I be looking for?

Also, any idea on how to update my BIOS?  I saw somewhere that I should do that.  I have BIOS version A11.  Is that like, I need to look for an updated A11? Or do I need to get A12 (or whatever the current number is, if that's how it works).

The only i7 you can, well rather, would upgrade to is the i7-3770.

16 GB of RAM is possible.

And if I recall, the last BIOS version for the X51 R1 is just compatibility with Windows 8. You can flash it on your computer if you want to (the risks of flashing a BIOS are minute).

I ended up just buying a new case (Apevia X-Qpack3) and a EVGA 500w 80+ power supply.  I'm also adding a 3.5inch 3TB 7200RPM hard drive as well.

Now that I've upgraded to a new case/psu is the 3770 still the highest I can go on this mobo?  Can I go with the 3770K?

Is the hard drive that comes with the R1 5400RPM or 7200?  I'm trying to figure out which one to use as my main.
