Look in "Programs and Features" and uninstall any programs related to Realtek.

From Device Manager - Delete  "Realtek High Definition Audio"

Be sure your Internet is working and reboot x51. On next boot-up, it should detect Realtek and load the "Microsoft HD Audio" driver from the Internet/Windows Update.

Check Device Manager, Reconfig default sound Devices to that, and test it.

I did exactly what you said and it didn't install anything. I also don't see "Microsoft HD Audio".

Did it even try (did you see "New Hardware Detected" prompt)? What all is listed in Device Manager now?

No it didn't even try and i didn't see the prompt. The list is: "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" , "High Definition Audio Device" , "Intel(R) Display Audio" , "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" , "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible)  (WDM)"

Per their directions?

USB Only - Switch to PC/Mac

Top of Page-15

Wireless Mode (switch Transmitter to PC/Mac mode: presets are deactivated)

Great. That means the Audio circuit "sound card" on your motherboard is tested and working. Use those drivers instead.

You can now reinstall your TB headset per their directions.

OK, so first ... we agree it's not the Dell computer, right? The analog stuff works fine. One way or the other ... it's a PX3 headset problem now.

There is not any TB drivers to install, are there?

Are you using a USB-2 port in the back (not blue or with normal markings)?

2. I am using usb 3

1. You would know if you installed them. I don't see them mentioned in the manual.

2. Try USB-2 port in the back. Pretty sure it's only a USB-2 device anyway.

Well, i tried hooking up a female to female (3.5) to the game hole in the transmiter to the green 7.1 audio and switched it to ps3 and it worked like a charm. no static!

So, when only using a USB port connection, it's really just using the "sound card" in the PX3.

Your comment is interesting.

That means that due to a failing in the PX3 (most likely) or x51-R2 USB-2 port (less likely) it seems unable to handle the bandwidth of both stereo sound and mic (3 channels) and the same time.
