will change color on the screen but not on the keyboard

Are you refering to the Alienware Trac keyboard? If not the colors will not change.

Good question by flyer. Or is it the TactX keyboard.

Should be able to open your Alienware Command Center and the middle tab at the bottom brings up a picture of your computer etc. where you can change the colors and if you have their keyboard and mouse on them as well.
