alienware m14x r2 replacement lcd screen brightness...

i recently have got my lcd screen replaced (of my alienware m14x r2) because it started showing a thin vertical blue line on the screen.

but after the change the new screen is missing a key feature of the original screen, the auto brightness control. earlier when the desktop background changed from dark to lighter images or video, the brightness used to dim accordingly. but in this new screen it does not happen. it adjusted well on the eyes and i miss that.

now i want to ask if i should go for another replacement or do the replacement screens simply don't have that feature ??

moreover the service guy who opened the case cracked the plastic screen cover at one place and now it does not fit well :(

plz help

thanks ...

Hi shubhranshu shekhar,

I sincerely apologize for the Inconvenience.

When was the screen replaced?

Laptop brightness adjust is a software feature.

Thanks for the prompt reply...  That issue is solved now.

And the screen was replaced on the 31st of July.

But from today I observed that the new screen, logo goes black along with the power button light for a few seconds during normal working. It had never happened before.

Do you have any solution for this?

Hi shubhranshu shekhar,

Glad to know that the screen was replaced.

When does the screen go blank? Is it after Dell logo or while in Windows?

Eloborate on the issue so that I can help you better.

the screen went blank during normal working in windows. i was watching a movie when this happened. first i thought it was in the movie but then i heard dialogues were normal and my screen was at fault. after a few seconds the screen came back on. and during this period the light in the power button was also off. it happened again afterwards

i have checked the drivers too, they are the updated ones and it seems more of a hardware fault to me.

thanks in advance

Hi shubhranshu shekhar,

Try to run diagnostics on the computer.

Restart the computer. Tap F12 and Select Diagnostics.Let the diagnostics complete.

The ePSA starts running the quick test without waiting for user input. To select a specific device to test, users can tap the Esc key.

Also, ensure the Power options are disabled:
