m11x bios update freeze

I got my new motherboard in my m11x. my bio is X07, i am trying to update it to ao4 (latest) but it freezes my whole system and just stays on initializing. I cant even power it down with power button. i have to pull bottom cover off and unplug battery or let the battery die. Is this a faulty board ? or do i just let it sit on that screen over night? i only left it for like 10-20 min till i pulled the battery. Thanks ! this mobo has no service tag btw it asks for one in bios.

RE: m11x bios update freeze

Hi,

Do you happen to know what version of M11X is it? R1, R2 or R3? Are you sure you’re installing the BIOS for the right M11X version?

Is that the original Motherboard, or was it replaced? Because every motherboard should have the computer’s Service Tag attached to it.

You can try doing a power drain. To perform a power drain, follow the steps below.

  1. Turn the system off and disconnect the power cord.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (mouse, keyboard, etc)
  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 1 minute.
  5. Connect everything again and turn on the system.

RE: m11x bios update freeze

Still wont work after the power drain. I replaced the motherboard so it has no service tag. Bios says product name: NAP10 , bio ver: X07. 90w charger if that means anything

RE: m11x bios update freeze

This is the link for the latest BIOS version. In case that does not work you can try reseating the coin cell battery and retrying the update. If that still does not fix it, then maybe the motherboard is not compatible with the unit.

Okay I'll try from that link and when you say reseat the clock battery do you mean as in unplugging and plugging back in?

RE: m11x bios update freeze

I figured out the problem .. My replacement motherboard , the bios says model name: NAP10 which it should actually be M11x R2. I tried flashing in DOS but it says the names do not match. How can I edit my current bios model name ? Is there any programs to do such? Or a program to edit the updated bios name to NAP10?

RE: m11x bios update freeze

Not that we know of. If the BIOS itself does not read the right system model then maybe it is just not compatible with it, therefor it will not accept the BIOS update.
