Hi @Vashtel  it is ok and safe to remove the dead 13 R3 main battery and use your laptop as if it is a desktop computer by using just the charger. (Better to remove the dead lithium-ion main battery, just in case it swells within the laptop.)

However, please note that Dell use a hybrid power system within the laptop to provide all the power requirements when playing demanding games, etc. and that is when you need the internal main battery and the external charger working together.

There are other options, such as using a Dell external hybrid power adapter (mains + battery), which will restore your 13 R3 to a mobile laptop. The more demanding performance requirements will require a external hybrid power adapter with a higher wattage output. Always buy accessories that are specifically designed to work with your 13 R3.

We do not know in which part of the world you live or what risk you tolerate. As an example we might just pop into our local Walmart and purchase the 4RRR3 Dell Alienware 13 R3 Genuine 76Wh 15.2V Battery TDW5P . Knowing that if it does not work, we could take it back and get another that does work.
