15 R3, SA Driver/Download check, continuously fails
Dell SA (SupportAssist) 3.4.0.200 (current version) "Get Drivers & Downloads" check has failed continuously for about a month. An "Unknown error" is reported. What gives? Ideas?
I already removed and re-installed Support Assist with no change in behavior. All drivers and downloads have been updated via Support for Alienware 15 R3 website.

Using SA version [3.4.1.49], I am now getting normal response to driver/download check. So I will close this thread.

Has Dell SupportAssist been effectively replaced by the "Alienware Update" app for Alienware laptops? Perhaps I should uninstall SupportAssist...?

Not sure on the Dell SupportAssist being replaced on Alienware, but I can say on both my Dell laptop and my Alienware desktop that the SupportAssist fails when trying to check for and/or download drivers. The last date it says it could was November 28, 2019 on my laptop and I'll have to wait till I get home for the desktop.

Thank you for the info. Looks like the issue could be on the Dell server end...
Check out that new "Alienware Update" app. Looks slick and simple, and it is offering me the "critical" SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools.

The same "unknown error" persists with SupportAssist Version [3.4.1.49], the current version.

It's named "Alienware Update" (v3.1) in the Alienware folder on the Start Menu. I don't know/can't remember how the program appeared there, if it was installed automatically or if I downloaded it.

Thanks machine....never noticed that before....way too many ways to update my r3...lol
