17 R5, AWCC Installer v1.0.0.0 fails

Dell has now automated the combined installation of Alienware Command Center (AWCC) and then OC Controls. This is a good update and the AWCC Installer v1.0.0.0 interface is user friendly.

But AWCC Home and FX tabs are still missing and Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 21H2 (build 19044.1706) Windows Security still cannot verify publisher of OC Controls.

Alienware 17 R5 has Keyboard per-key lighting upgrade, Killer 1550 Wireless upgrade, etc. Alienware 15 R4 and 17 R5 refreshed with per-key RGB lighting and new Command Center software - NotebookCheck.net News, but this laptop is still stuck in dark mode. Dell's flagship Alienware LED manager is still 'missing' and there is currently no Dell Technical Support fix/solution to get AlienFX 2.0 to work. @Dell-BradL

Has any 17 R5 user managed to get their get AlienFX 2.0 to work?

Hi @FMax__ thank you for your observation.

AWCC Installer v1.0.0.0 fails to get AWCC FX, AlienFX Lighting, etc. to work, so this becomes a Potentially Unwanted Program (malware) and has now been deleted using Revo Uninstaller Free.

Hi @Arkengelus welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Please click on Product Support and allow Dell to identify Model and Revision number so that this can be shared in your next post. Please share the systems Windows 10 or 11 operating system, and the CPU and GPU designations. Do not share your private System Service Tag or Express Service Code in this public forum. Thank you.

Hi @crimsom , do you have to uninstall the OC Controls  before installing AWCC Installer v1.0.0.0 ??

Because, before Alienware advise that you uninstall the old version of OC control before installing the new one.

Regards.

Hi @INXSEX thank you for sharing question.

I used Revo Uninstaller Free to remove OC Controls and then remove AWCC, the opposite sequence in which they were installed. Then AWCC Installer v1.0.0.0 can be installed as if for the first time. Programs and Features say "Alienware Command Center Package Manager" v1.0.0.0 installed, with no mention of AWCC or OC Controls having been installed.

Hi crimson

Thanks for your hint to remove OC Controls and then AWCC completely. Unfortunately that doesn't help in my case.

I take care of two m17 R2 – Windows 11 – everything up to date except for the Alienware-Command-Center-Application_J2T2G_WIN_1.0.0.0_A00 update.

Every attempt to install “Alienware-Command-Center-Application_J2T2G_WIN_1.0.0.0_A00” fails and it doesn’t make any difference whether OC Controls and then AWCC have been removed completely. The installer simply stops and goes into idle-mode right after the start (attached picture).

Using the previous version of AWCC still works but Command Center states that an update is needed every time AWCC is started but it doesn’t really install the update. So AWCC comes up with that at every start-up.

Any others experience the same?

Hello @FMax__ , i am having the exact same problem, it just sits there and does not install, i tried it on an M15 R2, i think its a bad software for the moment.

I am using my laptop without installing this upgrade as it does not work for the moment, if some has any sugestions on how to get it to work ??

Arkengelus ran the SupportAssist OS Recovery with DELL-Cares which fixed the issue.

This SupportAssist OS Recovery fix did not work on my Alienware 17 R5 laptop.
