15 R2, failed BIOS flash

Hi,

Can anyone help advise me where the BIOS chips is located on the motherboard? I recently did a BIOS update from Dell support site as it was advised as "Urgent", but laptop froze halfway through and after leaving for 12 hours, had to leave for battery to die to turn it off.

Now laptop does not turn on! Power button and keyboard light up but nothing happens. Blind flash is not possible either so I am having to resort to flashing the BIOS chip with an external programmer but struggling to work out where the BIOS chip is!

Any help greatly appreciated as Dell support have basically me over by suggesting the BIOS update and then refusing to claim any responsibility.

Regards,

Rob

That BIOS chip is soldered onto the motherboard, but I suspect you know that. The picture of it is on this web page. And needless to say removing and resoldering on a new chip is not for the faint hearted. So just in case here is a link to a motherboard. Also, read this.
