Alienware M17 R4

Hi, I had to replace my charger at my laptop ST:

Please tell me what should I get, cause the one I got doesnt work properly. I could use a link, or a specific model.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I live in Greece and I cannot order this one (although you sent me an 180W charger while I need a 240W). Is there a way I can find one in Europe, or can you show me the label on the charger?

Welcome to the Dell Community  @ChrisKourouzidis

Not sure why @Mary G  would suggest a 180w adapter when your specs calls for:

Type: 240 W

Alienware M17X R4 Specifications:

You could use your "Service Tag" to find the exact part number for your laptop.

But I think it is a PA-9E???

This is the best I could find for you.

Make sure to purchase only one that has Delta or Dell on the label.

All others are "China Knockoffs"

Best regards,

@ChrisKourouzidis

That one looks perfect.

OEM original Dell, correct wattage and good price.

Nice choice.

@ChrisKourouzidis

Well then there is 2 options.

1. The AC you received is defective and needs to be returned/exchanged.

2. Your laptop is defective and a new AC will not solve your problem.

Does the light around the jack end light up???

If the light does come on does it stay on when plugged in???

Have you been able to try the AC on another Dell laptop???

U2

Yes the light is fine. I have run all diagnostics, checked the drivers, bios, I ve literally done everything. Sad thing is Dell in Greece needs 170 euros JUST to receive my laptop. I also checked the motherboard and I did a format.

My laptop is plugged in not charging and I experience a huge lag. Since everyone said there is nothing wrong, they said it has to be an energy issue. Any thoughts?

Yes, well.. it doesnt work.

Correct. Does this sound familiar as a problem? Cause I cant find any solution to this for the past 3 months.

@ChrisKourouzidis

Every post prior to this was unnecessary if you would have posted.

"I have run all diagnostics, checked the drivers, bios."

"My laptop is plugged in not charging and I experience a huge lag."

So now we can assume that the system boots to an OS but is not charging the battery and is lagging."Slow"

Is that correct???

@ChrisKourouzidis

Try removing the battery and running on AC only.

See if it continues to lag or not???

I've tried that too. Same result. The one thing thats stops the lag is throttlestop which of course is not recommended

So ?

I guess the actual problem is the product itself. Goodbye Alienware products once and for all
